Pictures, pictures, pictures

So nothing too exciting is going on here...which is a good thing. But, we always have new pictures of Mckenna!

Training Update

So as many of you know, I am training for a half-marathon that is in June. The training is going really well actually. I have a friend who is training with me, so it is a lot easier to get on a regular schedule of running. We have been running usually Monday through Friday. Mondays are our long days. We add a mile each week. Today, we ran 8 miles. It really wasn't too bad either. We have been running outside a lot more now that it is warming up. If it is cold outside, we run inside the Hart building on campus. We either run on the treadmills or inside the fieldhouse. The problem with the treadmills is that most of the treadmills on the gym are right in front of mirrors, which really makes the run seem long. The other problem is that their is little circulation of air around the treadmills, so it gets really hot. We have ran a lot in the fieldhouse, which is nice when it is cold outside. The fieldhouse has a little track in it and 11 times around the track is a mile. So when we get up to 4 or more miles it gets pretty repetitive and boring. So, we really prefer to run outside. It has been a lot warmer the last few days so hopefully it stays that way. The half marathon is in June, so we still have a little while to train. But, it is going a lot better than I imagined. I have realized how good it is to have a regular exercise program. It really makes you feel good. Anyway, I thought I would update real quick because a lot of people have been asking how it is going.

Mckenna's Milestones

Here are a few more pictures of Mckenna. She is doing so good. She is about 13 pounds now and is so happy. She is always smiling and is a wiggle worm. She is now reaching for rattles and playing with them a little more.

The other night, Devin and I were watching a movie and we looked down and Mckenna was trying to roll over. She started on her back and then moved to her side. But that is about as far as she got.

She hates tummy time, but she got a tummy time mat for Christmas that helps a little. It is like a small boppy with toys attached to it.
I have been trying to be a little more adventurous with recipes, so for Valentine's day, Devin and I made this brownie cake. It was sooo good! It was a lot of fun to make it together. It is pretty much two layers of butterscotch brownies with butterscotch and chocolate syrup stuff on top.

Make it and Love it

So recently I came across a blog that I absolutely love! The site is makeitandloveit.blogspot.com. There are random homeade things that also include directions on how to make them. I have made a nursing cover and a grocery bag holder...but there are many other things that I plan to make from the site. There are great directions on how to make them, including pictures. The projects have been enough to keep me busy in my free time, but not so complex that I don't feel like I can do it. Anyway... right now she is giving away a cute baby boy tie and matching shoes. You just have to comment on her blog and you are entered in to the drawing. Anyway, something fun to check out if you want something crafty to do.

Smiles!

Mckenna has a cute smile...with dimples!

5 Generation Picture

Recently, we met with family members to take a 5 generation picture. This is the woman that Mckenna is named after, her great great grandma Twila. She is so excited to be a great great grandma. My cousin actually recently had a baby also, so she now has two great great grandchildren. She is planning a 5 generation party this spring. So this is Mckenna, me, my mom Susan, my grandpa Bruce, and my great grandma Twila.

I guess we aren't so good with this blog thing...but here are a few more pictures. We are doing great! Devin started a job at the Rexburg Nursing Center. In order to apply to PA school, he has to have patient contact experience. He starts applying for schools in May, so this job will give him the hours that he needs. He is keeping busy with work, his church calling, and his classes. I am still on maternity leave and loving it! I am going to run a half marathon this summer, so I am keeping busy training for that. I go back to work the second week in February and I will work one 8-hour shift per week. Mckenna is doing great. She has been sleeping through the night since she was 5 weeks old, so that has been SO nice. She went to the doctor on Monday for her two-month check. She weighed 10 lbs 4 oz which puts her in the 35th percentile, which is a lot better than the 10th percentile she was in a month and a half ago. She is smiling now and continues to be a good, happy baby.
